These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of Opal, a content operations product built and operated by Arthea (“Arthea”, “we”, “us”). By accessing Opal you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Opal lets you plan, review, approve and publish your brand’s own posts to the social accounts you connect, from one content calendar. It connects to third-party platforms (for example TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X and LinkedIn) through each platform’s official API, and publishes to a connected account only the content you have approved in Opal.
2. Access and accounts
Access to Opal is granted to the operators of the brands we onboard, and is protected by an allowlisted email address, a one-time code and two-factor authentication. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for the activity carried out under your access.
3. Connecting an account
You connect an account yourself, through the platform’s own authorization screen. You may only connect an account you own or are authorized to manage. Connecting it authorizes Opal to act on that account solely to provide the features you use, and you can withdraw that authorization at any time by disconnecting the account in Opal or by revoking access in the platform’s own settings. Opal never receives or stores your platform password.
4. The TikTok permissions Opal requests
For TikTok, Opal uses Login Kit and the Content Posting API. These are the only permissions it asks for, and this is exactly what each one is used for:
What it grants. The open ID, display name and avatar of the account that authorized Opal.
How Opal uses it. Shown on the Channels screen so you can confirm the right account is connected, and stored so Opal knows which account a scheduled post belongs to. Nothing else is read from the profile.
What it grants. Permission to post content directly to the profile of the account that authorized Opal.
How Opal uses it. Used once per post, at the scheduled time, to publish a photo post you already reviewed and approved inside Opal. Opal never posts anything you have not approved.
What it grants. Permission to send content to the account as a draft for the creator to finish in TikTok.
How Opal uses it. Not used. TikTok includes this scope with the Content Posting API by default and it cannot be removed from the request. Opal makes no upload-as-draft call.
Opal will not post to a connected TikTok account without your approval of that specific post inside Opal, and it does not request any permission to read your followers, direct messages, video list or analytics.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you publish through Opal. You are responsible for holding the rights to it and for ensuring it complies with the rules of each platform you publish to. You grant Arthea only the limited permission needed to store that content and transmit it to the platforms you have connected, so it can be published as you scheduled it.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Opal to:
- Publish content that is unlawful, infringing, deceptive, or that violates the rules of a connected platform.
- Access or attempt to access accounts, data or systems you are not authorized to use.
- Interfere with, disrupt or attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the service.
- Circumvent authentication, rate limits or any technical safeguard.
7. Third-party platforms
When Opal publishes to a connected platform, that platform’s own terms and policies apply to the content and the account. You are responsible for complying with the terms of each platform you connect, including the TikTok Terms of Service and the TikTok Developer Terms of Service. Access tokens are held only for as long as an account stays connected and are deleted when you disconnect it in Opal or revoke access from the platform.
8. Intellectual property
Opal, its design and its software are owned by Arthea. These Terms grant no license to Arthea’s marks, software or content except as needed to use the service as intended.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Opal is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Arthea is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for the availability, actions or policies of any third-party platform Opal connects to.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms as the product evolves. Material changes take effect when the revised Terms are posted at this address, with an updated effective date above.
